Wrestling Winter 2025-2026

Join our dynamic youth wrestling program!   Open to boys and girls | 3rd - 8th  Grades 

Whether you're stepping onto the mat for the first time or have previous experience, all skill levels are welcome, beginner, developmental and advanced.

Our program focuses on fundamental techniques, sportsmanship, and building confidence through this incredible sport. 

This winter season focuses on building strong fundamentals through hands-on instruction. Young wrestlers will learn essential techniques including:

  • Basic stance and movement
  • Body control fundamentals
  • Single-leg takedowns
  • Sprawls and defense
  • Basic escape techniques

Introduction to match rules and scoring through controlled practice matches.  Coaches emphasize discipline, sportsmanship, and physical conditioning through age-appropriate drills and games.

Season Information

Program Details - 3rd - 8th Grades

Days:  Tuesday and Thursday

Dates: December 11, 2025 through February 12, 2026

Time: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm 

Location: Staples High School Field House, 70 North Avenue, Westport

Fee: $475.00  

Practice Gear

  • Required: Wrestling shoes and head gear
  • Shorts or sweatpants
  • T-shirt
  • Water bottle (clearly marked).

All athletes are required to follow all safety protocols as established by Staples High School Athletics and in place for the season.

PAL Youth Wrestling Coaches

Jordan Miron, Head Coach of Staples High School's wrestling program, now brings his championship-caliber coaching to our youth wrestling program.  With over two decades of competitive wrestling experience and proven success leading Staples' varsity team, Coach Miron creates a direct pipeline from youth development to high school excellence.

Join us to experience elite-level coaching in a supportive, age-appropriate environment led by one of Connecticut's most accomplished wrestling coaches.

Lindsey Rywolt, Coach Lindsey is an experienced youth coach who has served as an assistant with the Stratford youth wrestling program for three years. She currently competes at the University of Bridgeport, where she is leading the program in its historic inaugural season.

A pioneer in women's wrestling, Coach Lindsey captured the first-ever sanctioned women's New England championship and earned Outstanding Wrestler honors. Her impressive competitive resume includes a state championship, All-American status, and a top-20 national ranking in women's wrestling. She brings both elite-level experience and a passion for developing young wrestlers to the program.

Parent Account Setup and Management

  1. Parents must create their own account in the PAL Directory on Sports Engine
  2. The account should be in the parent's name, not the child's name
  3. From this account, parents can:
    • Create individual Athlete profiles for each of their children
    • View their children's PAL Sport program registrations
    • Manage guardian settings

Guardian Access

  • The parent who creates the account becomes the Primary Guardian (Account Owner)
  • To allow other guardians (like another parent) to receive emails:
    • The Account Owner must manually add them as a Second Guardian
