COVID-19 Protocols
As of May 7, 2021

Westport PAL’s highest priority is our program participants' health and safety, and we remain committed to the following COVID-19 protocols (subject to change) for our boys and girls programs.

Of important note, Westport PAL follows the Staples HS Athletics Department policies, which adhere to the latest guidance for athletes provided by the Connecticut Department of Public Health (Addendum #5, endnote #7). Therefore, quarantine durations stated below differ from general return-to-school policies.

If your player receives a quarantine notice from her school nurse, she will need to follow the stated quarantine period and should direct any questions to the school nurse.

All Participants (Players, Coaches, Volunteers) Must Stay Home:

  • If you experience any COVID-19 symptoms
  • If you or an immediate family member test positive for COVID-19 or are awaiting test results
  • If you have been exposed to a person who has tested positive for COVID-19 (within 48 hours prior to a positive test result or within 48 hours prior to symptom onset).

If A Participant Tests Positive for COVID-19:

  • Participant (or parent/guardian, for a player) must notify Westport PAL ( ) immediately and must quarantine for 10 days, beginning from the first day of symptoms.
  • Westport/Weston Health Department will be notified and town protocols will be followed.
  • Return to participation in Westport PAL lacrosse programs requires completion of the 10-day quarantine and clearance from isolation from a healthcare provider.

If A Participant Is Exposed to A Positive COVID-19 Case:

  • Participant (or parent/guardian, for a player) must notify Westport PAL ( ) immediately and must quarantine for 10 days.
  • If Participant has been identified by contact tracing as a close contact you must quarantine for 10 days.
  • Return to participation in Westport PAL programs will require completion of the full 10-day quarantine.

  • For players, mask-wearing is now highly recommended for all practices and games but not mandatory.
  • Masks must be worn to and from the field of play and on the sidelines.
  • Coaches will maintain the wearing of masks at all times.
  • Masks are required for Girls lacrosse during Girls Draw regardless of mask policy. This is mandated by CONNY.
  • All generally accepted social distancing guidelines must be followed. No unnecessary physical closeness or contact among coaches and athletes.
  • Players must bring their own clearly labeled water bottle, hand sanitizer and equipment. No sharing of any items allowed.
  • The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued interim health guidance stating that fully vaccinated people may gather or conduct activities outdoors
without wearing a mask except in certain crowded settings and venues. On that basis, the PAL is updating its spectator policy to align with this CDC guidance such that fully
vaccinated individuals may, at their option, forego the use of a mask when watching the players' games and practice trainings.
We respectfully request that all spectators, vaccinated or not, continue to social distance at all games and practice trainings.
  • No congregating in groups, including in areas adjacent to fields or parking lots.
